The Franke & Heidecke Rolleimarin Underwater Housing allows you to use your Rolleiflex TLR underwater. The housing was built by Rolleiflex creators Franke & Heidecke in Braunschweig, Germany. The die-cast housing has external controls for adjusting shutter speed, aperture and focus, as well as firing the shutter and winding the film. A large circular window on the front of the housing is large enough to accommodate both lenses of the Rolleiflex camera, meanwhile an inclined window in the back of the housing provides a magnified view of the focusing screen of the camera. Camera shutter speeds and apertures are set via knobs on the top of the housing. To the photographer's left is a large focusing knob with scales for actual distance and apparent distance underwater. The right side of the housing has a crank for film advance, a frame counter and a release lever for triggering the shutter. Another lever allows the selection of two filters and the unit is able to accept compatible flash units.
The Rolleimarin was produced in four models, with each model having different compatibility with Rolleiflex TLR cameras. None of the Rolleiflex 2.8 cameras, the Rolleiflex T, the Rollei Magic cameras or Rolleicord cameras are compatible. Also Rolleiflex 3.5f cameras produced after 1958-60 are not compatible.
This is an early model Rolleimarin (likely a I or II -- it is for the non-interchangeable-hood Rolleiflex models i.e. 3.5A, 3.5B)
